July 18, 2011 – TriHealth and Vantage Oncology formed a joint venture, effective July 1, 2011, to manage the radiation oncology services of the TriHealth Cancer Institute in addition to Vantage Oncology’s Cincinnati outpatient radiation oncology centers. The joint venture will add two additional outpatient radiation oncology centers in Mt. Airy and Eastgate to TriHealth’s existing two locations in Clifton and Montgomery.
“The joint venture is a major step forward in TriHealth’s design of an integrated delivery system that aligns hospitals, physicians and community resources in a strong collaboration that significantly impacts the quality of patient-centered care and also the health status of Greater Cincinnati overall,” said John S. Prout, TriHealth president and chief executive officer.
“This is an ideal collaboration that leverages both organizations’ reputations for clinical excellence, patient-centered focus, and compassionate care,” said Prout.
“The partnership between Vantage Oncology and TriHealth exemplifies the cooperative relationships among hospitals, physicians and specialty providers that will be required to advance the quality and effectiveness of cancer care,” said Michael Fiore, chief executive officer and co-founder of Vantage Oncology. “We look forward to working with TriHealth and its physicians, many of whom we have worked with before, for the benefit of the Cincinnati community.”
The joint venture operates Vantage Oncology’s InterCommunity Cancer Center in Mt. Airy and Eastgate Cancer Center in Eastgate. These two locations double TriHealth’s radiation oncology locations for patient convenience. Current TriHealth locations are Good Samaritan Hospital in University Heights and Bethesda North Hospital MediCenter in Montgomery. The TriHealth locations are managed by the joint venture.
Oncology and cancer services have been identified by TriHealth as key service opportunities. Nationally, among all types of outpatient specialty care, cancer treatment in outpatient settings is expected to grow from 12 percent of the outpatient specialty market in 2010 to 22 percent by 2020.
TriHealth Cancer Institute is one of two specialty institutes announced by TriHealth in mid-May. TriHealth Heart Institute also was established. These new institutes leverage TriHealth’s regional leadership in aligning physicians – employed and independent, primary care and specialists – to develop a shared focus on excellence for each patient and the community as whole. The new institutes wield the power of the full TriHealth system, which has been named among the country’s Top 100 Most Integrated Health Networks 13 times.
Founded in October 2002, Vantage Oncology develops and operates radiation oncology centers of excellence through acquisitions and joint ventures. The company was founded because of a growing need among cancer patients, hospitals and physicians for easily accessible and advanced radiation treatment therapies. Vantage Oncology currently operates 43 treatment facilities in 12 regions throughout the United States. Vantage Oncology is led by a seasoned management team including Chief Executive Officer Michael Fiore, Medical Director Leslie Botnick, J.D., Chief Financial Officer Marshal Salomon and Chief Development Officer Mark Ahern. On Thursday, July 28, $1 from every ticket sold for a special “blue carpet” viewing of the play will benefit the Georgia Prostate Cancer Coalition. A pre show VIP reception will be held for celebrities, sponsors, media and other guests.
“Stripped” is a new stage play that will break down the severity of illness and life’s happenings as it “strips” away the layers of the life of professional football player Jayden Dorsey, revealing the true charge and sacrifice of being a high profile athlete.
The play will captivate audiences through a story which proves “losing everything you have, leaves you with all that you need.” The play boasts a star studied cast including media personality Rashan Ali, former athlete-turned-actors, creator Dorsey Levens, Ryan Stewart, Karon Joseph Riley and Ed Hartwell. In addition, former Real Housewife of Atlanta, Lisa Wu Hartwell will star as Dorsey’s wife.
Dorsey Levens is no stranger to work with Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia and its efforts to promote prostate cancer awareness with the Georgia Prostate Cancer Coalition as the faces of the Georgia Prostate Cancer Awareness Pledge Campaign encouraging men over the age of 40 to not only partake in a screening for themselves, but for their loved ones.
“Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia is excited for the opportunity to support “Stripped” as it tells a uniquely compelling story of life, love, struggle and sheds light on the severity of prostate cancer,” said Shelly Glenn, of Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia.

LOUISVILLE (July 01, 2011) – Independence Day festivities are looming high. Between all of the grilling, fireworks, poolside hang-outs and other summer fun, Radiotherapy Clinics of Kentuckiana (RCK) wants to remind summer lovers of the importance of effective skin protection during this season.
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States.[1] Kentucky has an average skin cancer incidence rate of 22 to 28 people per 100,000 – among some of the highest rates in the country – while Indiana has fewer occurrences, between 16 and 19 diagnoses for every 100,000 people.[2] Risk factors for skin cancer include family history of skin cancer, lighter skin color, as well as a history of burning or tanning and other factors.
“We understand wanting to soak up the sun these days,” says Dr. Frederick Albrink, M.D., “but it is crucial to follow some easy protection regimens to prevent long-term, serious damage to your health.” It is important to use UVA/UVB protective sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher and wear sunglasses or hats while in the sun. Seeking the shade – especially during the harsh midday hours – is also an effective way to protect the skin.
